Jaclyn Bermudez


Jaclyn Bermudez studied at the Manhattan School of Music and is the recipient of the Rose Bampton - Sullivan Award in New York, in 2018 the Staatstheater Kassel's Young Talent Award and in 2019 the HNA Volksbühnen Prize. After her first experiences in the opera studio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, she was an ensemble member at the Hagen Theater from 2011 to 2013, where she performed, among others, Mimì (“La Bohème”), Micaëla (“Carmen”), Donna Anna (“Don Giovanni”) and in the title role of C. Floyd's "Susannah". In 2013 she moved to the Staatstheater Kassel, where she played roles such as Tatyana ("Eugene Onegin"), Rosalinde ("Die Fledermaus"), Merab ("Saul"), Baronin Freimann ("Der Wildschütz"), Berta ("Il Barbiere di Siviglia") "), Wanda ("The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein"), Gretel ("Hansel and Gretel"), Mary Lloyd ("The Duchess of Chicago"), Anne Trulove ("The Rake's Progress"), Liù ("Turandot"), Freia (“Das Rheingold”), Gerhilde (“Die Walküre”), Gutrune (“Götterdämmerung”) as well as the title roles in “Antigona” and “Jenufa”. Guest activities took her to many opera houses in Germany. These included the Hanover State Opera, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Nuremburg State Theater, the Dortmund Theater, the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater, the Krefeld Mönchengladbach Theater and the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen. On the concert stage, she has appeared with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hagen Philharmonic Orchestra. Most recently she toured with the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz. 

In 2023 season she returned to Kassel as Gerhilde in Die Walküre, and 2024 saw her debut at Hildesheim as Nora in European Premiere of Stephen Paulus's new opera The Postman Always Rings Twice
