Kirsten Labonte
German soprano Kirsten Labonte studied singing at the Detmold University of Music, singing pedagogy with Prof. Gerhild Romberger and song with Prof. Manuel Lange. She was a finalist at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition and the German National Singing Competition. She gained her first experiences on the opera stage in the opera studio of the Landestheater Detmold, where she was twice awarded the Detmold Theater Prize (young talent prize and prize for best singer in music theatre). There she played roles such as Adele (Die Fledermaus), Musetta (La Bohème), Sandrina (La finta Giardiniera), Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute) and Hilda Mack (Elegy for Young Lovers by Hans Werner Henze). She also made guest appearances at the Saarland State Theater and gave concerts with the Detmold Chamber Orchestra, the Bielefeld Music Association and the Northwest German Philharmonic.
In the ensemble at the Landesbühnen Sachsen, she appeared as Jenny in Weill's Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, Gabrielle (Paris Life), Marzelline (Fidelio) and Ännchen (Der Freischütz) and made her debut as Gilda in Rigoletto.
Since 2022, Kirsten has been an ensemble member in Regensburg, singing roles such as Cunegonde and Zerbinetta.
