Nielsen’s Maskerade, AUNTIE in Ruder’s Handmaids Tale
and JENNY Mahagonny.
Matilde’s debut was as DORABELLA Cosi fan tutte at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck and she went on to sing FLORENCE PIKE Albert Herring and BIANCA The Rape of Lucretia for Britten-Pears Opera at the Aldeburgh Festival.
At the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Matilde covered the role of PRINCE ANDRONICO Tamerlano and TITLE ROLE in the Royal Ballet production of Duparc’s L’invitation au voyage.
Matilde sang the world premiere of Rascado’s Anacleto Morones at the Spoleto Contemporary Opera Festival. She sang PRINCE ARMINDO in Handel’s Partenope with the Cambridge Handel Opera Group and PRINCE DARDANO in Handel’s Amadigi di Gaula for the final year of the Battignano Opera Festival.
She sang CARMEN at Linnea Teatern, Sweden and EBOLI Don Carlo for Opera M. Matilde sang ZITA Gianni Schicchi, LA PRINCIPESSA Suor Angelica, and MADDALENA Rigoletto in the Mediterranean Opera Festival 2022, and WALTRAUTE Die Walküre and FLOSSHILDE Das Reinhold for the Wagner Society UK, both conducted by Tony Legge.
Other roles Matilde has performed include CHERUBINO Le nozze di Figaro, NICKLAUSSE Les Contes d’Hoffmann and ORLOFSKY Die Fledermaus for Pavilion Opera.
Matilde Wallevik is Danish but grew up all over Europe and speaks 7 languages. She studied at The Royal Danish Conservatoire and continued her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow. She has worked with conductors such as Paolo Carignani, Tony Legge, Adam Fischer, Stuart Bedford, Christopher Hogwood, Tony Pappano, Steven Moore and Lionel Friend.
She was a winner of the EU Opera
Competition and a finalist in the Bayreuth Wagner Competition, and
she recorded Beethoven’s Der glorreiche Augenblick with the Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra which was released in 2012 by Naxos.
